Arcos Dorados Reduces 130 Tons of Plastic with Its New Salad Bowls
We are proud to keep reaffirming our commitment to the environment. From January, the traditional plastic salad bowls used at our restaurants in Argentina will be replaced by a carton box made from 100% renewable materials.
With this addition, we managed to eliminate 100% of the plastic from our traditional salad bowls in Argentina, resulting in an estimated reduction of 130 tons of plastic per year in this market.
The launch of the initiative is in line with our Company’s global goals for eliminating single-use plastics and using materials of renewable origin or from certified sources.
The new cardboard packaging is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. This organization certifies products that come from responsibly managed forests. We are thus able to choose packaging made with materials produced on the basis of responsible forest administration.
The new sustainable packaging has moisture and grease-proof organic varnishes. In addition, the greater availability of printing surface makes it possible to communicate the brand’s sustainable initiative in a more attractive way.
