The McDonald’s Volunteer Program

The McDonald’s Corporation celebrates the thousands of volunteers around the world who dedicate their time and energy to helping others. Volunteering has been part of its culture since its inception, along with Big Macs and the best French fries. Using the Company’s scale to create positive changes in society is essential to “building a better McDonald’s.”

So this year, volunteering has been elevated to a new level, with the launch of an exciting global award: the McDonald’s Volunteer Program. To participate, anyone who works at the Company can nominate a co-worker who volunteers in a non-governmental or non-profit organization.

Participants will be grouped into three categories:

  • Youth Opportunity: individuals/groups working to remove barriers to youth employability and education.
  • RMHC: individuals/groups that volunteer in RMHCs.
  • People’s Choice: individuals/groups that volunteer in an organization that serves the unique needs of their community.

Twelve finalists will be selected (4 per category) of which 3 will be the winners. The finalists will receive a cash prize for their organization, while the winners, in addition to receiving a larger sum of money for their institution, will be invited to the next World Convention in Orlando, Florida, United States. The finalists will be announced on December 5.

Requirements to be met by nominees:

  • The nominated person must work at McDonald’s as a franchisee or supplier Crew or Staff member.
  • The organization where the person volunteers must submit a letter supporting the nomination.
  • The volunteer must have positively impacted the world or the lives of others through their volunteer work.
  • The volunteer must not have received any money from the organization for which he/she carried out the activities, or benefited in any other way from the activities.
  • The nominee may currently be volunteering for an organization or have already completed their volunteer work.
  • The nominated volunteer must grant their consent to their nomination.
  • The volunteer must have participated in a non-governmental or non-profit organization.
